Accepted applicants will sign an initial two-year contract to live and work in Tamura as part of a 12-person team of English teachers. Many of our teachers decide to extend their contracts and stay in Japan longer than two years.

Interviews are conducted each year in the fall. New teachers arrive in Japan around the first of April following an orientation in late March. For more information, please use the form on this page.

Follow these next steps to begin the application process. We are excited to get to know you!

  1. Contact the Team Coordinator, either by phone or email (teachingintamura@gmail.com) to express interest in the program and to inquire about job openings. The coordinator can easily be reached through the “Contact Us” box below.

  2. After communicating with the Team Coordinator, completely fill out and submit the application (link provided below). Please be concise yet thorough in your responses.

  3. Print the “Ministry Recommendation Form” (below) and give it to a Pastor who knows you well. He or she can either send the form in the mail or scan the completed form and email it to the Wakakusa Team Coordinator.

  4. Print the “Personal Recommendation Form” (also below) and give it to an employer or college faculty member who knows you well. He or she can either send the form in the mail or scan the completed form and email it to the Wakakusa Team Coordinator.

  5. Please pray about the will of God in your life and your involvement with Wakakusa. Also, keep the American team in your prayers and let others know about the program to help us put together a wonderful team.
